Music is an integral part of our worship at Salford. There is something special and spiritual that takes place when believers sing together. We blend traditional a cappella (unaccompanied) singing, often in four-part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), with contemporary songs of praise, with or without piano or other instrumental accompaniment. Our song leaders include selections from Voices Together, Sing the Journey, and Sing the Story songbooks.
The Adult and Children’s Choirs enhance our worship services on a regular basis. Instrumental music is frequently integrated into our worship, offered by members and guests of all ages.

Salford pays Hymn Royalties Reparations for African American spirituals and other music which grows out of experiences of oppression: music which has deepened our worship life, but which grows out of experiences of oppression and for which the authors have not been compensated.
Our commitment to Justice in Music:
We at Salford Mennonite Church acknowledge the history and significance of the spirituals sung in today’s worship service. With respect and deep gratitude for the extraordinary musical contributions made to U.S. American music by Black people, we offer our thanks and praise to God for the creators of the Negro Spirituals and their descendants.
Each time we sing the spiritual songs of enslaved Black people in our worship together, we commit to:
Through our prayers, our gifts and our actions, we will strive to do all that we can to end systemic racism in America.
We are grateful to the United Parish in Brookline, MA from which this commitment is adapted.
In 2022 and 2023, Salford's reparative hymn royalty payment went to the Reparative Act Fund at Shalom Community Church.

- And paying royalties to organizations promoting the advancement of Black artists in the U.S.
