Key Responsibilities
Visionary Leadership
- Embody and advance the mission of Salford as outlined in our Welcome Statement, fostering a radically inclusive, welcoming, and loving environment.
- Collaborate with church leadership and staff to discern and implement long-term strategies that reflect our values and mission.
- Provide spiritual direction and innovative approaches to meet the needs of a diverse and evolving congregation.
- Serve as the primary preacher, delivering approximately 25-35 sermons annually that are engaging, thought-provoking, and rooted in Anabaptist theology.
- Collaborate with the worship planners to plan meaningful worship experiences that reflect the diversity and values of our congregation.
- Provide skilled teaching through Bible studies, faith formation classes, and workshops, fostering spiritual growth and a deeper understanding of faith.
- Encourage a learning culture within the congregation, equipping members to connect their faith to daily life and contemporary issues.
- Provide compassionate pastoral care, supporting individuals and families in their spiritual and life journeys.
- Oversee new member classes, baptisms, weddings, and funerals, fostering a sense of belonging and spiritual growth.
- Mentor and support staff and congregants in developing their gifts for ministry and service.
Team Leadership and Administration
- Supervise and guide a dedicated staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Ensure effective administration of church operations, including budget oversight, scheduling, and communication.
- Maintain regular accountability to the Church Board, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
- Champion Salford’s commitment to inclusivity and justice, building partnerships within the broader community.
- Represent the church at Mosaic Mennonite Conference gatherings and other denominational or ecumenical events.
- A deep, personal commitment to following Jesus in life and action, rooted in the Anabaptist tradition.
- M.Div. degree or equivalent, with at least five years of pastoral experience, ideally in a welcoming and inclusive church setting.
- Exceptional preaching, teaching, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with a team, inspiring others through vision and action.
- Strong administrative and organizational capabilities.
