Sewing Circle
Through the long history of sewing circle at Salford, women have gathered to socialize and support the mission of local church related ministry efforts. Comforters are knotted for Mennonite Central Committee’s relief efforts around the world, and quilts are produced for auction at local fundraisers. Sewing circle is an enjoyable time of socializing for all involved. Sewing circle meets the first Wednesday of the month from 8:30 a.m. until noon in the Gathering room, and the Tuesday evening the night before from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Special times of the year for sewing circle are when the Salford girls club joins us each February and the August all day comforter Knot-a-thon. All are welcome to join this group and no prior experience is necessary. We enjoy teaching novice quilters and knotters!
Salford also has a prayer shawl ministry. The prayer shawl ministry started as a vision to provide a tangible symbol of Salford’s love and prayers for those hurting, facing major health challenges and major life changes. Prayer shawls are knitted or crocheted wraps worn over the shoulders for physical warmth and to feel the warmth of the prayers of the church. Supplies for making prayer shawls can be picked up a the prayer shawl table in the main lobby. Instructions are included for knitting and crocheting prayer shawls.
