Peace Camp

pc4Each summer Salford organizes a week of Peace Camp for children from our church and local community. We meet Monday through Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. and supper is served each evening for the children as part of the program. Children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to attend. At Peace Camp children learn the keys to being an effective communicator and problem solver. Christ’s affirmation in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the Peacemakers”, is the central theme for our week together. Key objectives of the week are:
  1. To model Christ-like living in everyday common experiences of working together and relating together.
  2. To introduce peaceful conflict resolution skills and alternatives to war play.
  3. To engage children in meaningful activities that teach conflict resolution.
  4. To encourage development of self-esteem.
  5. To encourage acceptance of people of all races, ethnicity, and gender.
  6. To teach appreciation and respect for God’s creation.
pc2Examples of Daily themes at Peace Camp are: Who Are You? Accepting Differences Loving One Another Conflict Resolution

We conclude our time together with a program for parents and families on Friday evening when the children share favorite experiences and what they have learned through the week.

Please plan to join us next summer! Check here in early June for Peace Camp dates and registration information.
